Rubber growers association seeks support of Centre

KOCHI: With the natural rubber prices plunging to Rs 95 per kg, an eight year low, the Indian Rubber Growers Association has requested the intervention of the Centre in arresting the fall.

The association has in a memorandum asked the Commerce Ministry to support the Kerala government's cash compensatory scheme offered to the small growers by allocating Rs 500 crore and to explore the possibility of safeguard duty on import of NR beyond the requirement by the industry.
